A recent Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) has overturned a tribunal decision that an employee was unfairly dismissed after placing an image of a witch as a screensaver on the computer of a colleague who “unfriended” her on Facebook. The EAT held that procedural defects in an employee’s dismissal for allegedly bullying a colleague who “unfriended” her on Facebook could be cured during the appeal stage. (Source link)
We know that employing staff brings with it concerns about keeping within the ever changing employment laws, what would you do if one of your employees put a picture of a witch as a screensaver on a colleagues PC? Would you know the correct procedure? Do you have a Social Media policy in place?
With this in mind we along with P.S.Human Resources are running a programme of HR workshops aimed at small businesses. Maybe the person within the business who although they deal with the HR doesn’t necessarily have any qualifications? Or someone within the business who would like to have more knowledge of HR so they know what they can deal with on a day to day basis and when to call in an HR professional?
The programme commences on September 8 2015 and places are filling up fast......
