What does Soft Skills mean to you?

October 20, 2019

“What does soft skills even mean?” This is a question we get asked on a regular basis and in all honesty it is a totally valid question. It isn’t very self-explanatory is it?  So let me tell you.

The official dictionary definition for soft skills is “personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people.

Therefore our soft skills workshops are designed to improve the calibre of people that you have working for your business. Whether it be improving someone’s emotional intelligence levels or creating and delivering memorable presentations, the idea is that we are developing people’s skills so that they can do a better job.

We believe that soft skills are incredibly important for development of your people, and as such your business, no matter what digital tools you have on our desk.

You can look at a candidates CV and it can list certain qualifications that they have which fit the role, but that doesn’t always mean that they are the perfect fit for the job.

It isn't just the qualifications which make someone a good fit, it's the soft stuff around the edges (the fluffy stuff).  How do they fit in with the team, can they communicate well, can they talk to clients, are they easy to be around?

Some people might need to develop their soft skills in areas such as time management or coaching, in order to be the perfect fit, others may need to develop their communication skills, or become more assertive, which we are seeing more often in the workplace.

At Green Shoots Learning we believe that you learn a lot from each other so our soft skills workshops are interactive and based around relevant activities, which see the delegates working collaboratively to share ideas and thoughts.

We have lots of soft skills workshops already written, however they are all tailored to meet your specific business needs and to cover your businesses processes, ethos and practices, and this consultancy is all covered in our standard price.

The easiest way to find out what soft skills training your business may need, is to book a free consultation with one of our CIPD qualified trainers and chat through your challenges.  We even off a retainer service to help manage your budget and develop a culture of learning in your business.

We love a cup of tea and a slice of cake so call or email us today to arrange a time for a chat.
